Bollocks

It is a stupidly cold spring - freezing winds which somehow do not manage to freeze the endless mud -  and our two-year-old boiler has just died.  Woeisme!   At least we have escaped the snow. Feels like it has been winter since approximately last June.

Oh no! That's taking north-of-the-Wall verisimilitude a little too far. Will we have to have a 4 day long GIANT FONDUE to keep the party warm?

We went out dancing on the seafront today to "welcome in the spring." Unfortunately, we forgot to check that the order for spring had been committed. We all pretty much froze to death.

I am very much hoping that the Boiler Man can fix it before Thurs, I am not in favour of THAT much realism!

We do have the gas fire and an electric shower, but huddling over a vast cauldron of molten cheese does have a certain appeal to it.

We almost have enough dogs to do this:

Except that dogs aren't allowed on the bed under any circumstances!

Feels like it has been winter since approximately last June.

My dad just skyped that it was a nice autumn day today at his place - 27C and a nice breeze off the ocean.

There were those 3 nice weeks in July/August, timed exactly so that the rest of the family is now thinking that I am being overly dramatic when I say that the weather here does 2 things... cold & wet, or freezing & wet.

27 degrees seems very inviting just now...

Normally down here in the West we don't get that much cold for very long at a time, but this last year has been miserable. :-(

I am thinking of emigrating to somewhere warm. Maybe to New Zealand. Or Fiji. Or Mercury.

The dogs all got up early this morning because they were cold, and insisted I got up too! Brythen & Az both now wearing fleece jumpers.

Feels like it has been winter since approximately last June.

The farrier this morning kept grumbling about how winter has lasted ten months. His terrier Sparky, who usually roams around in search of rats, shivered and refused to come out of the van.

Az had a jumper and a coat on this morning's walk! It's almost April! :-oooo

Woe indeed! Not good timing for you given the current weather :-( I shall pack my hot water bottle if it's not fixed & probably borrow a cat or two rather than a dog :-) Hope for your sakes the man comes well before Thursday.

Boilerman came today. He doesn't know exactly why it was broken, but he did manage to make it work again! Hurray!

Apparently it could have broken for any one of three, outwardly-indistiguishable reasons, all of which produce the same error code. He's going to do a fix for the cheapest of the three and hope it doesn't come back. :-D

That's good, hope the cheapest fix is the right one! Though I too was thinking that a cauldron full of bubbling cheese sounded rather appealing :-)

Oh, that's terrible! Get that boiler fixed soon, because this weather is dire and your pipes will suffer!!

Cor, there must be something in the air, 'cos our boiler also suddenly went dead late Sunday afternoon. We spent an 'interesting' night with me and Fro together in our bedroom with a portable fan-heater, and Skordh and El on the sofabed with the gas-fire on low overnight. The kids haven't been well and do not have the insulating layer of fat we do, so I really didn't want to leave them on their own in their bedrooms with no heating. Luckily the man came on Monday and diagnosed a dead pump and put a new one in which seems to have done the trick, but I was certainly wishing for last March's 20s degree heat instead of snow and below-zeros!
