The other day I saw a meme of the Millennials, saying that, as a people, they feared DIY because they were the ones who had survived their parents and grandparents terrifying DIY efforts.

At the time I dismissed this as over-caution, but the discovery last night of the DIY fitted pump under the bath here that would not turn off, leading to alarming smoke, and could not be got at, except by moving far too many large reluctant flat-headed screws and wooden slats, and the further discovery that it was plugged into a three-pin electrical socket located directly under the bath has made me think again.

Maybe these millennials have a point after all.

Still, we got all the screws out, unplugged the pump and the smoke went away after a while! Not entirely sure I want to take another bath directly over an electrical supply though.

That feeling when you've removed 9999 rusty flat-head screws (because of course they are flat-head, so harder to get a grip on) and you prod the thing that should now be easy to remove and realise glumly that it must be either nailed or glued. Probably both.

*shakes fist*

Still, Theo is being very encouraging by watching wide-eyed and occasionally wagging sympathetically when I tell him how difficult it all is.

After some days of fabulous weather, today we have rain and sweeping gusts of wind stirring Milford Haven into small foamy crests. A good day for being indoors, at least!

The hot weather has gone away. Now we have Rain and Fog. A couple of days ago I foolishly risked going out for a longer walk with Rosie Roo, but without her coat: we all got caught in a major downpour so wet that you could see Rosie's under-fur spots showing through her soaked fur, AND there was thunder. Fortunately, one of the few things that dogs are usually afraid of that Rosie isn't is Thunder, and since Rosie ignored it, so did Theo.

And THEN, driving home, I stopped at the roadside veg stand to buy YET MORE strawberries, and when I got back in the car, it wouldn't start. With the rain pouring down, and I had left my phone at home... So, then I had to go bang on the door of the house that belonged to the veg stand, in the middle of a pandemic, and ask to borrow their phone. Fortunately for me, they were in, and kind enough to lend it to me. Then I had to talk to Green Flag rescue through the sound of a torrent pouring on top of my umbrella, which was not easy.
