Disappointing correct lyrics

Yesterday, a song by Coldplay came on the radio.  I must have had it on louder than usual, for I could hear the lyrics clearly.  I was most disappointed to discover that one line of it really goes:

"Roman Catholic Choirs are singing"

I feel that the version I'd previously always managed somehow to hear is greatly preferable, summoning up as it does images of great choirs of heavily armoured Sarmatians on horseback:

"Roman Cavalry choirs are singing"..

Is it not Cavalry? I thought it was too. Bums. I agree it's much more evocative.

I agree too! Can't we just decide to hear it that way?

It's clearer on the later verses. So I guess you could decide to hear it as Cavalry on the first verse, and assume they are making a point about the Holy Roman Empire...
