The Iron Crown of Lombardy
Why did nobody tell me previously about this amazing object I've just stumbled upon*? Someone tell me it actually exists and is not just in Wikipedia? Even its name is wondrous!
A crown from 700-780? Old enough for Charlemagne to have worn (if he did, which I'm very dubious about)? Decorated with a hammered-out Nail of the True Cross which is mysteriously non-magnetic? Used to be an arm-ring? And what does Wikipedia mean, two sections were lost? Lost HOW?
Anyone know any good sources to find out more???
*YES I was working. Though I'm buggered if I can remember what exactly at, it must have been a truly impressive clicktrail of distractions.

Well, yay to confirmation it exists. Not so much yay to Napoleon. I never have had much time for Napoleon even if he did have hankerings to be Holy Roman Emperor.

I tried to google the film and came up - well not empty, because I have found this (http://www.amazon.co.uk/Charlemagne-Sword-Cross/dp/B005F1KVEY/ref=dm_ap_alb1)
truly this is a day of remarkable discoveries.

I can't pin down clearly how big this thing is, but I have a nice imagine of big important emperors being solemnly crowned with a TEENY TINY crown.
