Tiny Monsters

I went up the Lynher river today, and photographed some tiny people and monsters.

First I caught a dragon, waiting.

Then I stumbled upon an as-yet-unpublished scene from a future Ice and Fire book! The appearance of the Otyugh in Westeros takes everyone by surprise, not least Cersei...
An as-yet-unpublished scene

The Otyugh is normally found in damp riverside locations.

Melisandre is seriously hard. She may have only just stepped out of the river, but she is not going to let the Otyugh menace her.

Good setting to photograph them in. I love the composition of the last photo; when one glances briefly at it, it looks rather convincingly like a dragon atop a ridge.

I was pleased with that one. In some ways it might be better if that dragon wasn't going 'RAWR'. Trying to photograph it looking real does rather emphasize that in real life, animals rarely stand there going 'RAWR'.

So as well as these 6 pictures, do you also have 193 rejected ones, marred by last-minute appearance of curious dog noses? Or did the dogs get left behind for this expedition, and instead of heading out with a pocketful of poo bags, you had a pocketful of monsters and Westerosi ladies in dangerous low-cut dresses?

I did have about 193 rejected ones where the focus or lighting wasn't quite right, but no dog-noses. I think dogs prefer to poke their noses at things that are likely to fly away. There's no challenge to little metal figures :-D

Wow! My trips to the river are never that exciting!
