Two ripe figs today: the first of the year!

Hooray for figs! Do you have plans how you're going to eat them?

I'm afraid I just ate these two as they came! But I have Plans for the rest that are on the tree, as soon as they finally achieve ripeness, involving pancakes and cinnamon... It's such a waiting game, with figs.

Excellent!

Our plum tree, after c3 years of nothing at all, has given us quite a few plums this year :-)

I've never had a plum tree. Well, not a proper one. I have what I think was once a plum tree up at the top of the garden, but it has suckered like mad and is now a small wood - and none of it makes plums!

One of the roses that was in the garden when we bought the house suckers like mad. If only the plants we wanted grew that quickly ...

And very easy to grow! Just need soil, fig tree and lots of sun. Admittedly the last bit can be in short supply...

The hotel in Orkney that we used to frequent had a fig in its conservatory, to make best use of the 20-hour days at midsummer.
