Foster Cat Bingo

He's about 11 months, and was rehomed, but his new people decided over the first night(!) that he was too nervous for them, and returned him the next day so he's come to us for a bit of rest and relaxation before trying again.

He is actually surprisingly friendly when he decides to come out to say hello, but has spent most of his time hiding away so far.

Bonjour minou!

(All cats know French, but you’d never know…)

Poor guy! I hope he gets more of a chance next time. He looks very distinguished, for an orange.

A beautiful cat!

What kind of people take home an animal and give it less than a day to stop being nervous?? I hope he gets a better home next time.

That's exactly what I was thinking! Clearly they had no idea what to expect when adopting a cat. Most cats take several days to decompress and get used to a new home.

I was told about the 3, 3, 3 rule by the last Rescue we got ours from: 3 days to decompress (hide/rest), 3 weeks to learn the routine (begin showing personality), and 3 months to feel at home (form bonds and feel safe). And that has pretty much been our experience.

*nod* I haven't adopted a cat but I have adopted pet birds, and they can definitely need months or even years to trust someone!

Oh he is such a gorgeous boy, and definitely looks very serious. I think he needs a more distinguished name than just Bingo, he's definitely a cat who needs to be addressed as Mr Bingo or even Sir Bingo.

I know he'll be neutered if he's come from a rescue otherwise Mister Bingo Gingernuts Esquire would be what I'd call him if he was my cat :D
