No work!

It's 11:52 and for the first time this year, I think, I don't have any work that is overdue or that I am rushing to get finished for a deadline. In fact I have no work left to do today at all!

In the place in my brain where there is normally a small angry person shouting 'GET ON WITH IT', there is an eerie silence. Next door to that, is a strange feeling of impending doom as if something is bound to go wrong at any moment.

I think I may go shopping.

I have this strange feeling that I ought to be doing some work, but all I can realistically do is make sure all my filing's up to date and that people know where my old emails are :-)

Is this a happy "almost christimas" nothing to do or a scary "the order book is empty in January" nothing to do?

At the moment I'm thinking it's a festive lull. A fairly *short* festive lull: I got back to 2 emails full of stuff to do before Christmas. Plus I have one monstrous quote that I am fearing will be accepted in Jan, another job that was supposed to have happened in Nov but got bumped, and I'm supposed to be being recommended for some other thing, though thatm might not happen. Plus various regular few hours a week type management jobs that are ongoing.

So, not too worried about lack of business just yet: I'm still in 'when do I sleep!' mode so far. If a few of my regulars are driven out of business by the credit crunch things might look less good, but so far, so good.
