Happy New Year, your resolutions sound very sensible and the sort that can actually be achieved. I'd suggest if you wanted extra help with the garden you hold a gardening weekend, but I suspect that you'd probably end up with very helpful people who don't know the difference between weeds and plants you actually wanted to keep :-)
On second thoughts you might not get very many volunteers anyway, as I'm not sure quite how many people like gardening. Bacchus hates it though he claims when we grow our own stuff to eat it'll be different, I have to confess I'm not getting my hopes up though. Still he's very good at pruning, if by pruning you mean reducing what was once a nice if slightly overgrown bush/small tree to a stump with no leaves...
