bunn: (No whining)

In the middle of a sodding *volcanic eruption* I hope that your people and animals have all made it to safety, and that your geological problems don't spread to Hekla or Katla.

And while I'm at it,  I hope that your economy can be patched up and that it's not been terminally crippled with the aid, it must be admitted, of  the excessively gullible who should perhaps have had more sense....

Please ignore the whinging of those who seem to think that their need to take a plane today is so vitally important that the fact that something potentially mindbogglingly dangerous is going on is unimportant by comparison...

I know you won't be too bothered, as you are used to this sort of thing, but none the less, you have my best wishes.

My baby brother and wife are on their honeymoon in Italy and it looks as though they're coming home the old fashioned way by boat and train. How lucky they didn't pick Vegas...

I notice you wisely steered clearly of attempting to spell the one that's actually erupting...:-p (NB cutting and pasting does not count.)

I suspect that whinging about cancelled flights is probably far less inappropriate than what I'm about to say, but this post has just reminded me that I decided a while ago that Hekla and Katla would be the names for my next cats, but I'd since completely forgotten about it. I'll forget again long before I ever get said cats, but it's nice to be reminded.

Bummer, you have reminded me I forgot to look at the lavender sunset they promised London tonight :-( I blame it on catching the train before 7pm, it meant the sun was still out by the time I got home.

Chainmailmaiden, trying and failing to see possibly the only positive in a horrible situation...

There are others, for starters nobody seems to have been injured or killed by this natural event. Also I've seen some pretty incredible 'photos on Flikr, such as these: http://www.flickr.com/photos/helgaeg/4482193229/

Nobody has been injured or killed *yet*. Fingers crossed that the ash is the worst of it and everything simmers down.

If this eruption melts the ice over Katla and Katla decides to go off that could get really messy.

Or long periods of dormancy, interspersed with sporadic bouts of crazy but rather pointless activity? Sounds very cat-like to me.
