A Roman Wolf mosaic

I am unsure how to describe this Roman mosaic from Leeds museum that endlessrarities just shared.  But I knew when I saw it that it deserves the widest possible audience.

Hee! I love it! Romulus and Remus, perhaps? If so, then the wolf is clearly pointing at them, saying, "Look, everyone! Look what I've got! Aren't they funny and adorably hairless and CUTE?" Either that, or it's dancing the macarena.

Ha ha ha! That is the happiest wolf in the world - how adorable! It looks like... LSD wolf. Perhaps the artist had some bread with a good deal of ergot in it that day XD I particularly love how the wolf's got a very lopsided grin going all the way up one side of its face, and Romulus and Remus look like they are running away!

Hahaha! What a delighted goofy look that wolf has... although the mouth full of sharp teeth makes me think it's saying "hey, look what I found for dinner!"

Ah, the Leeds Museum goofy wolf is at last getting all the attention it deserves! How satisfying is that?

P.S. you can thank my Romanist lecturer from my undergrad days for that one, because he's the one that put a slide up of it in a lecture many, many moons ago, when the world was considerably younger...
