Rohirrim & Dogknotwork.

 I had another whack at drawing the Rohirrim killing Ugluk's troop of orcs as the sun rose behind them.  The composition is better on this one, though it seems to have ended up as one of those pictures that doesn't work quite so well on the screen.  The original has more detail on the faces.  Oh well.  I do like the lighting and the way it only uses one colour.

And I had another go at a dog knotwork, inspired by Az and the fosterwhuppets all curling up together in a big bed.  I think this one has ended up a bit overcomplicated and frilly.

I love the smiling doggies! I imagine battle scenes of any nature are incredibly difficult.

I'm glad you liked the lighting. Keep telling myself I need to keep working on these sorts of busy scenes, eventually I might make one that really works!

I find it really hard to work out what is going on in the whole picture in these busy scenes - I think I tend to start off with one or two features clear in my head then fill in the rest, but when the rest of the picture is dramatic death and gore that tends to end up with the whole thing looking overdetailed... Still, practice makes perfect, right?
