I am finding this record rather handy as I analyse logfiles to try to work out what might cause dips in traffic. It is handy to be able to quickly look and remember what the weather was like around a specific entry, and therefore whether people were likely to be indoors searching for holidays, or outdoors having fun.

In that spirit, I hereby note that it is a stunningly blue-skied summer day today, that we have a picnic on Dartmoor planned for this evening, and that my dratted, DRATTED laptop just overheated and closed all my applications because I had foolishly put my notepad too close to the air vent.

4Kgs of small-dog food and 15kg of large-dog lamb and rice food has just arrived. Mollydog has to have large dog food, as she tends to inhale the small biscuits and choke. Az finds large-dog food hard work to chew, and eats it very slowly, with many plaintive looks. So: two bags. I got less small-dog, because I can usually buy that locally if I need to: the large-dog stuff is harder to come by.

Infuriatingly, I put on a nice clean white t-shirt this morning, as I have a meeting at 3pm. Then I forgot I was wearing it and picked up Kjetil, so I am now totally covered in brown fluff. Grrrrr. The meeting is with an Important Client, who I suspect is going to react badly to the news that half the team is off to British Columbia for a couple of months. Wish me luck...

Also, the mutant pumpkin has died. I'm guessing its funny contorted leaves could not cope with the strong sunshine, or perhaps its roots were contorted too, and could not pick up enough moisture. RIP, poor mutant pumpkin!

Cats + clean clothes = furry clothes covered in unremovable fluff.

My toms are moulting like snowstorms at the moment but the queen (who is also a NFC but completely unrelated) has a much coarser coat and is hardly shedding a thing.

I have to ask myself a question- what on earth posessed me to get three semi long hairs???? It gets everywhere and forms litle "pills" of hair on clothes when they are washed. It gets onto the curtains, carpets, furniture, bedding, under the chairs, all over the clothes....

Are your fluffies doing the same thing as well?

Ah well- they will never be as bad as small children I suppose- at least they don't have opposable thumbs!

I hope the meeting went well. Sorry to hear about the mutant pumpkin.

I have two short-haired cats, and the fur still gets everywhere in terrifying quantity. I'm sure they lose far more fur every week than they actually possess. I suspect there is an army of specialist spiders lurking on their bodies, desperately churning out new fur. Either that, or each cat sheds all its fur every night, and secretly gets a new coat delivered from Tesco.

Mine are normally not as bad as you might expect from such fluffbuckets- but the spring/summer moult when they effectively turn from shorthairs intolonghairs- aaaaaaaaarrrrrggggghhhhhhhh

Ooops. I meant longhairs into shorthairs.

Yes, pretty much. When we had 2 short-haired cats and one very small fluffbox, it was manageable, but the arrival of the Hairy Bears caused some sort of Fluff Event Horizon to be reached, and now everything we own is furry. This is one reason we deliberately chose very shorthaired dogs...

It would probably help if I could remember to brush Henning more: he has that very light yet dense hair that floats in the air and sticks to things.

The summer does improve things because they spend so much time outside though: I find the winter is worst, because they bring all their hair indoors!

Meeting went surprisingly well. I find they usually do if you are fretting about them: I try never to think 'oh, this should be a doddle' because somehow that seems to attract disaster like a lightning rod.
