Not a good day.

This morning Java cat was not able to get up.

The vet said that her liver problem had now reached the point where it was a choice between massive and uncomfortable intervention, which probably would not work, or have her put to sleep. People say that you instinctively know when that time has come. I haven't found that in the past, but this time it was very clear.

Philmophlegm is away at the moment, and we had hoped he would be able to be here to say goodbye, but the vet felt trying to keep her alive another day would be unkind. So, goodbye, Java. We won't forget you.



This morning, Amber bunny was breathing oddly and one of her back legs was turned in. She's now in an oxygen tent at the vet. Fingers crossed for Amber bunny.

She was indeed. Yesterday she shoved Az out of the way and stood on her hind legs to nick his dinner out of his raised feeder. We are going to scatter her ashes when we get them back as a sort of memorial.

Amber has a respiratory infection, but is responding to treatment and should be able to come home tomorrow, the vet says, so I'm very relieved about that.

Hope Amber gets better soon in her oxygen tent. What a fabulous invention by the way: why can't we have one of those in hospitals?

It's nice to know she was active right up to the end, but poor Az, bullied by a tiny (but imperious) cat! Still it's probably better that he's scared of the cats rather than him snapping at them.
