Foster dog woke me early on Sunday, so decided to take a trip down to the beach before the day got too hot
On the way home, I noticed these fields planted by some unsung artist of a farmer.  It is blue flax, otherwise known as linseed, stretching all the way to the skyline.

And here are a few photos of foster Carlos.

Rosie still loves Carlos.  In fact, Carlos seems to be very good for Rosie.  She is eating unusually well and seems more relaxed and waggy than usual.  Of course it might be the sun.  This weekend has completely defied the weather forecast, and been delightful, and a Sunny Rosie is a Happy Rosie.

Carlos is utterly uninterested in the cats.

First offlead walk in 10 years.  He doesn't really have a recall, but then his legs aren't really up to much more than a trot.

Being Good on the beach. Feeling very smug they are all in one photo and more or less looking the same way.

I wonder if the flax is destined for some utilitarian end like becoming oil or linen. The flowers are certainly beautiful.

Rosie, Brythen, and Carlos all look wonderfully content, as does the cat.

Lovely fields of blue!

Rosie's affections seem to have done Carlos good - he's looking so much more settled.

I expect so. I have a bag of ground linseed in the kitchen too, I've been meaning to experiment with vegan cupcakes again (there was a discussion on vegan cake on Facebook a while ago, and i gaily said 'oh, I've made some great vegan cake recipes with ground linseed'. Which I have, but I don't seem to have noted which recipes I used now. So I now feel morally obligated to make cake, which is a Terrible Thing :-D ).

I do hope the farmer makes an excellent profit on his flax and so will want to grow it again next year!

I think he likes being in a multi-dog household : it was very exciting for him to begin with, but now he's got used to it. I was sort of thinking that she and Carlos might share beds, but they haven't yet. It may just be too warm for that.

... I meant to note here that Carlos was 26.5 kg when I weighed him a few days ago, which seems very light for a dog who is 28 inches to the shoulder. He's taller than Brythen, and Brythen hovers around 28.5 / 29kgkg, and is very definitely not fat.

Carlos is eating well though, and I think he may have gained a little muscle already. It would be lovely if he's not too old to regain his fitness.

They are forming a nice relaxed pack now, very laid-back. People keep telling me how well behaved they all are. *hollow laughter*

How lovely, like a reflection of the sky.

I only know of linseed oil as a thing to do with painting, I've never thought of it as a food. Though I've made biscuits with olive oil and walnut oil instead of butter, so I suppose it's not that different.

What a gorgeous boy. RR still cracks me up every time I see her in your photos. She is awesome. I have no idea why I find her so funny.

I find her hilarious, with her enormous range of snooty expressions. Glad to hear her, ahem, strong personality comes through even via photos :-D

The flax is beautiful, and that's a lovely picture of the three dogs - very neat how they progress in order of standing, sitting, lying, sort of like a lurchers for artists reference shot :-)
