Philmophlegm has set off to the vet with the 4 largest cats, in pursuit of vaccinations.  I offered to go too, but he reckoned he could cope.  I hope he returns with all cats intact, (and without a hernia: they are absurdly heavy).

I now have a nasty oozing set of scratches down my front where Footie worked out what was going on before we got him into his box. :-(   But at least my clothing has survived: there was one memorable occasion when Footie demolished quite a lot of my top during a vet visit, and I had to drive home in rags.

Footnote: fine (usually at this time of year, he's itchy and scratching furiously)

Perl: gunk in both ears; prescribed different coloured gunk to remove first gunk; careful instructions from vet to do this outside in case she shakes her head and it goes all over the furniture.

Kjetil: fine

Henning: couldn't be vaccinated until we find out for sure what caused blood in the urine; probably nothing to worry about, but we have to provide a urine sample; vet gave long-life antibiotic injection plus anti-inflammatory injection and has given us some capsules (one twice a day for a week).

Philmophlegm: thinks that Henning + Kjetil in same cat carrier is a recipe for a bad back. Henning alone is well over 7kg.

At least ours are still quite light :-) Unfortunately despite both loving to curl up in their carriers to sleep, they seem to have an uncanny ability to sense when they are going to take a trip in them and they wake up and exit them about 30 seconds before you're about to go and get the doors to fix on :-(

Our Jake & Smokey went on a similar outing recently. I was rather dreading loading Jakey into the carrier, as last year he freaked out so badly he set off every other critter in the house, including Smokey. I have a couple of scars on my hands from that episode, unfortunately. However, miracle of miracles, all went well. Jakey put on a pound, but both were otherwise happy and healthy.

I try not to take more than two at a time. Our oldest four (Percy and the 'triplets') are due at the same time, so I've taken to schedule a pair in the morning and a pair in the afternoon. I have also learned not to confuse the staff by bringing both red tabbies at the same time. A vet tech nearly refused to give shots to Pip once, being convinced that she'd already given them, and tried to insist on dosing Merry twice. Luckily, I'd been paying attention. That was also the last time we did all four at once. The triplets were smaller then, and it was still a lot of hauling.
