Sadly, not - that would at least suggest a degree of planning and understanding of the nature of the problem.

They just aren't technically literate enough to understand that because *they* don't mind being sent an unsolicited 500K PDF, over their high speed connection, nobody else will. It's particularly ironic that this client has server-side spam filtering in place and if some other random person sent them advertising PDFs, they would probably never see them.
