This client I've been trying to get hold of all week emails to say he will definitely call me at 3:30pm today. Fine, say I.

3:30pm: no call.
4pm: I call him. Away from his desk.
4:30pm: still no call. Still away from desk.

I just *know* he is going to ring at 5:10 and want to talk for an hour and a half. Well, if my other client who often does this rings at 5:09, he won't get the chance! Ha!

Ick. I *hate* waiting around for phonecalls. Much sympathy!

Hmm, that sounds rather crap. Which of them, if any, actually phoned?

The man who was supposed to call at 3:30, true to form, called at 4:50pm, though I did manage to get rid of him by 5:30 - yay!

I don't know if the other guy phoned as well: if he did he'll have gone through to my sister and given her a late Friday too. Joy. What is it with people who think 5pm is a great time for a phonecall: do they not have homes to go to!

(I am horribly aware that as I work from home I have no right to winge really - even with the evening callers I still 'get home' while most people are still commuting!)

I get round the people ringing after 5pm and delaying me getting home by just not picking up. No-one is expected to work after 5pm in my office so I feel perfectly within my rights to do that. It is more difficult when they phone just before 5pm though, as then I do have to pick up. However now I live a significant distance away from work, I have simply said to people I'll have to ring them back the next day or I'll miss my train - more difficult to do if they know you're already at home...
