Nagging the BBC?

 When I posted about having seen the film The Eagle,  a few months back, endlessrarities  commented to mention a 1977 BBC TV series of Eagle of the Ninth, which I'd not previously heard of.  

For some reason this came back to me today, and I googled and found this short series of snippets on the author's website. 

"This looks entertaining, and also the hair is hilarious"  I thought.   "I would like to see the whole thing!"

Having rummaged around at rosemarysutcliff.com, it sounds like there may, or may not, still be BBC archive copies of the series, and if there are not, then possibly Sutcliff's estate may have a copy in the attic somewhere, but it needs the BBC to do stuff before anything can happen. 

I posted on the Points of View website as this was suggested on the rosemarysutcliff.com site as the place to nag, but I am pretty sure that holds very little weight.  Are there other good ways to nag about this sort of thing?

I have only previously nagged music companies about an album that was not available in any modern format : rather to my surprise (and possibly a complete coincidence) they did eventually release that album on CD.  This positively reinforced me in my nagging behaviour, so I intend to do more of it...

2|Entertain have first refusal on BBC DVDs, though more obscure archive material tends not to be issued by them - Acorn Media, Playback (part of Universal) and Network might be more likely bedfellows. Alternatively, you can release it yourself - Joking Apart was released by a company formed by a fan and I think he wrote a do-it-yourself guide on the web somewhere.

Someone has already contacted 2|Entertain, and they say they don't have anything to do with it, contact BBC archive.

I think probably step 1 is finding out what the BBC have got, if anything, because I'm guessing any tapes from 1977 recorded off the TV will be pretty primitive.

According to Wikipedia, Joking apart was released by a professional video editor who had £30,000 of his own money to invest. I'm not really in that market myself, but they have a suggestion box, so I've suggested!

Guides to BBC archive holdings have been published by Kaleidoscope; I can see if the Bodleian have them. There should also be an entry in The Hill and Beyond, the BFI guide to British children's television.

Oh, please!! Don't destroy my illusions/delusions!!! I DON'T WANT TO KNOW about hilarious haircuts (well, it was the 70s...) I want to remember the dream...
