Rashly, I signed up to the [livejournal.com profile] eagle_rbb as both an artist and a writer, and made a painting in acrylics that I hoped would inspire someone to write something interesting.  [livejournal.com profile] jain took my prompt and wrote this story, all filled with atmospheric mists.
I wish I'd had a bit more time to make pictures for it, but I did manage...

Here's the banner :

This was created from this original painting :

nd then, for no readily-apparent reason, I decided to venture into pastels to add some further images:

They are a little scribbly, but I am quite pleased with them in a scribbly sort of way!

These are all beautiful! I don't think I've mentioned yet how much I like the landscape in the original painting. One of the things that appealed to me right away was how small and vulnerable Marcus and Esca looked in the middle of those hills with their tangled brush, and overshadowed by the giant ghostly hound.

I also love how eerily stylized the hound looks in all three pictures, and how you emphasized its misty, supernatural nature. And its huge black eyes in the second picture are legit terrifying; I totally understand why Esca would find it so disconcerting. :-)

I really like the touches of color around Esca in the second picture--the glow of his lamp and his colored cloak--and how that contrasts with the shadowy hound. It definitely draws the eye to Esca first, and then the realization that there's something else in the picture staring at him comes creeping in afterwards.

And I like the very obvious sense of motion and urgency in the third picture. It's incredible how clearly that comes through when all you can see of the two figures is their silhouettes. Thanks again for the additional illustrations--they're a wonderful accompaniment to the story--and for creating such an inspirational original picture!

I'm really pleased you were attracted to the first painting, the story definitely captures that feeling of a huge landscape with people moving slowly across it (bit like the movie really)
