Azoo is home!

Az is home!  He's looking loads better than he did yesterday after a night and day getting fluids and all his medication via the drip.   He wouldn't eat at the vet, but he is definitely hungry - has eaten a little chicken since he came home and so far has not brought it up. 

Vet is pretty sure that it's not a virus, thinks he's probably eaten something horrible.  My suspicions focus on decaying rabbit, which he loves.     Phew, I am SO relieved.  I really did not think he was coming home this time.   He has rubbed his nose a bit bald and sore - from being in a crate, I think - but the rest of him is looking good! 

Thank you all so much for the kind comments on my last post.  I won't pretend I wasn't in a panic!

Well, up till now, Az has always had a cast-iron stomach. But I suppose at 14, all good things are coming to an end.

I don't know. This has hit him pretty hard: he's looking better, but he's very much not back to how he was only a week ago. He is suddenly a very old tired dog who just isn't very hungry and has to be tempted to eat anything at all. :-(

I am really hoping that a few more days may see him doing better though.

I am so glad Az is doing better! It's always so scary leaving a pet at the vets and they don't understand WHY YOU WOULD DO THAT TO THEM and then they look at you with those eyes. Ugh sadness.

Decaying rabbit. Must be the delightful and attractive smell? I could never understand that one.

That's excellent news, I was worried about the poor old chap. Mmm, decaying rabbit, he obviously likes his game extremely well hung... :-p

Well hung to the point of crunchy, usually. Actually, that might be the problem - usually when he finds a horrid dead rabbit and runs off with it it's all dried out, whereas this year I am sure anything like that will be totally sogged.
