Role playing species

If you can play any one of a whole bunch of different alien and genetically engineered species, then why would you play a human? I have to pretend to be a human all day long anyway. It's boring. It offers no novelty value.

Because humans are pretty. When I role-play, I like to imagine a handsome, upstanding man striding around with a flowing cloak, not an three-eyed purple-headed alien.

Okay, I admit that my current Traveller character fails on the "handsome" and "upstanding" part of it, and the "man" is questionable, but the general principle still holds.

We must have different standards of pretty...

Humans are all stumpy and bald and covered in icky skin and wobbly bits. And they have stupid little noses, no tails, and probably the world's most ludicrous genitals. :-p

well, that's my argument. You find out by trying on their skins and seeing what it's like!

I did play an insect in the previous campaign, but having more legs than usual was confusing...

It's fun to play a human who has very different characteristics to your own though, after all, I've never actually performed human sacrifice in a non role-playing scenario :-)
