This month's big website launch...

Is http://closercornwall.com.  We launched it today in Looe.  There was cake!    The idea of it is to encourage people to come to Cornwall, but instead of trogging all the way down to Penzance or Land's End to the Distant Western Lands of Glamour,  but stop along the south coast or on the moors instead.  

It still needs yet more content (is there any website that has 'enough content'?, but it's now at the point where it needs the members and volunteers of South East Cornwall Tourism to Do Their Thing and improve it, and I reckon they are more likely to be motivated to do that if the site is live, so live it is.  All feedback muchly appreciated!

Looks good! I like the slogan "Cornwall: closer than you think." I feel I should be peering cautiously over my shoulder, in case Cornwall (with its strangely familiar dogs) should be lurking there, ready to jump out at me. :-)

(Although I cannot help feeling that as someone living in the north of Scotland, I am not the target audience for the 'Closer than you think' tag line ;) Having said which, I do intend to make it to Cornwall on holiday at *some* point...)

Well, it's STILL an hour and a half closer than Land's end. Although arguably if you are coming from Aberdeen or somewhere, an hour and a half is mere quibbling :-D

I feel like a bit of a one-trick-pony as a website reviewer, but as your token 'visual accessibility' representative, excellent scaling! I got all the way to 500% (on a small netbook screen) before any text starting overlapping and pics getting too distorted, and at say 300% it was lovely, the boxes had moved around sensibly and there was no unnecessary clutter.

My only other slightly random comment is that I was surprised not to see any mention of Jamaica Inn or Du Maurier on the Bodmin Moor page, but perhaps that's just me!

I gather Skordh has looked at the website more productively, with a view to actually doing some south-east Cornwall tourism! ;-)
