17 years ago yesterday, we got married.  So yesterday we decided to go up onto Dartmoor and eat afternoon tea and celebrate.  It wasn't great weather, but you don't need wonderful weather for afternoon tea.

.
Pp winding the dogs up.

One of the good things about the Two Bridges, apart from the vastness of the teas, is that there's a nice comfy carpet for sighthounds to recline upon.

The tea was far too big for two humans to eat.  Even with the help of the hounds we had a few bits left over to take home.

Walking off *some* of it.

There were too many sheep about for Brythen to run about.  Poor Brythen.  I took them to the woods today instead so they had a chance to hare around.

Belated Anniversary felicitations! I am genuinely surprised - my feeling at the time was that you got married quite a long time after we did, but from the perspective of 20 and 17 years respectively the difference seems very slight!

I recognised that as Two Bridges before you mentioned the name, hasn't changed much - I suppose to a place of that antiquity 20 years seems only a little time :-) We spent the first two days of our honeymoon there (before spending the rest in cheaper places!) - and looking back again to our foolish youth, I can't believe we thought it would be a good idea to set off from St. Hilda's about 6pm and drive to the middle of Dartmoor - in a mini! One of the particularly memorable parts of our stay was the truly vast cream tea we consumed, and there was definitely a lot of hiking up tors to walk the food off. We went back for our 5th anniversary, but alas at that time they had stopped doing cream teas :-( Since the children we haven't had a chance to come back, but I'd like to, especially with a tea like that as an incentive! We managed to go away overnight (my parents child-sitting) for our 20th this spring, but - no longer being young and foolish - decided not to try to drive to the middle of Dartmoor for one night and instead went to Bath :-) (There was a cream tea though, even if not a proper Devonian one.)

Thank you!

It hasn't changed much, although I'm told that they used to play all the antique record players on Sunday afternoons, and sadly now most of them are rather beyond being useable.

They definitely do cream teas again now (as well as Afternoon ones) and are very proud of them: really surprised to hear they ever stopped. We do various website things for them, and cream teas are a special thing they promote.
