Are so bloody annoying, with their eyes and noses.  Eyes are the worst. One small blob of paint in the wrong place and BAM. Squinting Troll.

Maybe I should just focus on painting squinting trolls from now on.

I'm sure all trolls squint.

I definitely know the feeling! Paint is unforgiving.

You opened my eyes. From now, if I happen to see a couple of squinting trolls, I'll tell myself: "Aha, this meant to be Moses in front of the Pharaoh".

Not to mention the trouble of keeping the axes of the face squared to each other. That's actually where I struggle more. They look ever so strange when their eye-line isn't properly oriented with regard to the vertical axis of their face, even when you're only off by a hair.

Or when you get that look of impending explosive rage because one eye ended up opened a bit too wide compared to the other. Like this guy: http://www.dariawiki.org/wiki/index.php?title=Anthony_DeMartino

Faces are why I don't paint people. Vines, yes. Very occasional acanthus leaves, yes. Romanesque filigree, yes. People--not a chance.
