It is deeply annoying when you've drawn four people and have got their faces and stance about right, then realise that the main problem with the drawing is that you've drawn them slightly too short and that there isn't enough paper to show their feet where feet should be. Nobody cares about feet!  Yet it looks weird to chop them off.

I presume you can't have them paddling in a deep river?

They are inside an underground city. I feel that putting them standing in a river would raise more questions than it answered!

... BUT you have given me an idea! This is supposed to be a crowd scene, and I was going to put the crowd in the background, but if I put it in the foreground instead and view the action over their heads, then
a) I don't have to draw all their faces
and
b) no need for feet
and
c) can practice drawing stupidly elaborate Elf Hair!

Sounds good.

And I have no idea why my phone chose to title my comment Fellow Comms.

Prosaic suggestion: why not just add a strip of paper?

I'm looking forward to the Elf Hair in any event.

Because I was drawing on squares of card with a non-square edge: I can't think of a good way of adding a strip that wouldn't look really ugly!

Suggestion if it happens again: if you don't mind losing some of your drawing, it looks quite natural to cut them off at waist height.

That might have been cunning! I've gone with the circle of heads idea though. The picture's only a4, so it might look a bit diddy if I chopped it smaller!

It happens to my nephew all the time. He just keeps drawing on the table after his drawing becomes to big for the sheet of paper he is using.

Alas, apparently I never learn despite being many times his age!

I guess that's why you learned about boundaries a bit more than he has.
