He died this morning.  He was seventeen, not a bad age for a very large cat, and he had had failing kidneys for several years. He was sitting next to Pp,  got up, fell over and died almost instantly.   Not a bad way to go.

He was a grumpy opinionated old cat, who considered himself extremely important.  He was a bit of a coward at heart, and was always the cat who would retreat sadly outside if we had a new foster dog, until he'd decided it was safe to return.   But though he never liked any of the dogs very much, he was more than willing to terrorise them by looming at them and bopping with a large, clawed paw, as long as he was confident the dog wouldn't have a go back.   For that matter, he'd have a go at the other cats, too! He was a bit of a monster with other animals, really, but he loved cuddles and human company and had a great purr.

Great photo--he really does look like he thinks he is important. Sounds like he had a long satisfying life.

I'm so sorry to hear that, he really was Henning the most hegnificent cat of them all. I loved the way he would bop you to get attention if he didn't feel he was being paid enough attention & you're right. He really did have a wonderful purr. He had a very good and long life with you & it is at least something that his death was quick, not that it really makes it easier, as there is still the loss to deal with. I'm sure you'll both miss him a lot & I'll be thinking of you.

He was indeed a cat who would make his point with his paws. We're missing him, a house with only one cat and one dog seems so strange and quiet!

We have certainly lost pets under worse circumstances. He had a good breakfast, and I think he was happy until the last few moments.

I'm sorry to hear that. He was indeed a cat of a great and mighty magnificence - though far soppier than he wanted us all to believe. I remember once spending quite a while carefully styling his fur into stegosaurus spikes, while he just flumped there, placidly accepting any manhandling that came his way. Although he got his revenge many times in the years to come, by trying to steal my breakfast...

Yes indeed. He had a very tough self-image that crumbled under the least bit of pressure! We miss our grumpiest cat.

Oh, he certainly did! I'm glad that he got to have so long being Hegnificent, and it ended so fast and easily for him.
