Sooo much weather

Local tv news weather forecast this evening offered:

1) General weather forecast for tomorrow
2) Road warnings
3) Tide times
4) Surf forecast
5) inshore waters forecast
6) Long range weather forecast

So much weather! Does everyone have this much weather or do we have more because we have no other news?

I've never heard the BBC's South Today do a surf forecast, and landlocked Thames Valley Tonight on ITV certainly wouldn't. I see very little of either, and usually turn off South Today when the Oxford opt-out finishes anyway so don't stay for the weather, I admit.

Well you do live in close proximity to two coasts, that's always good for weather, and it's not tourist season so you won't have loons getting into danger etc so ...

I am never in in time to see the local news so I wouldn't know :-(

I have watched the occasional broadcast on days off, when I've been to lazy to even press the button on the remote to change the channel to something more interesting, and I think we usually get 1,2, and 6 along with sunrise/sunset & lighting up times.

Yours does seem to be particularly comprehensive :-)

Now you ask I'm not 100% sure! I don't remember the inshore waters forecast, but perhaps I just have never concentrated on the local weather news before!

So devoted am I to the cause of weather-related investigation, I actually recorded South Today to check. I counted:

- Five minute news item about the fact that gritters are out, and that school children are excited that it might snow
- Female weather presenter in woolly hat, standing outside, chatting to presenters in studio about how it isn't snowing yet, but is really cold, and isn't snow exciting?
- Description of what the weather was like earlier today
- Weather forecast
- Tide times
- Inshore waters forecast
- Long range forecast
- List of website and radio channels we can use tomorrow to find out what it do if it snows

I imagine today was rather exceptional, though.
