A post just for Dreamwidth

Usually, I make posts on LJ and import them over, because I have way more images on LJ than there is room for here, and the image hosting is so much nicerer and less clunky on LJ, not to mention more space. 

Apparently I'm not showing up on Grundy's  DW reading feed though, and I'm wondering if that's because my posts are made on LJ and imported rather than made on DW and exported. 

I'd rather not make posts on DW since so many of my posts have photos in, but I spose I could copy-paste the HTML over instead of importing, it would be no more hassle. 

edit : though that would mean that if I want to import over the comments as well, I'll end up with 2 copies of everything on DW.  Huh.

You don't show up on my feed either - though I had assumed that was because of some delay between LJ post and DW post.

If its not the delay, it might be some kind of settings issue - private posts to communities, for instance, do not reliable show up in feeds.

But this post did show up in your feed? If so, that means it is something to do with the export, and if I can't find a setting option (I've rummaged and can't spot anything that seems appropriate), I at least have a workaround.

Something funny is definitely going on with the import because your posts don't show up on my feed either - I've been checking LJ to keep up with you.

This post did show up on the reading feed. So maybe it is something to do with the import settings? (I have no idea how this all works...)

I've also tried turning on a 'notify me when Bunn posts' setting on my end - I'm curious to see if that works with the posts imported from LJ. If I can at least get DW to give me some form of heads up, it won't matter if the reading feed continues to be a butt!

You don't appear on my reading page (apart from this post). There is a box on the posting page "Don't show on Reading pages" (in the Display Date panel); it wouldn't surprise me if the import process was setting that?

Yes, that tickbox was checked, and I would never have looked at it because, in Chrome at least, that tickbox is hidden unless you click 'edit date'. Thanks!

You don't appear on my feed either, I assumed it was a glitch with my DW - you're not the only person that's true for! But this did show up.

I think crazyscot has worked it out - there's a secret checkbox under 'edit date' that was autochecked!

This is also the first post by you that I can see on my reading list since I migrated back...

I'll keep an eye on things and report when/if it seems like there are issues :)

I've been on DW for years and had no idea that tickybox was there, it's much more obvious on LJ. It's never affected me as I do everything on LJ then copy/paste it here and crosspost. This is because LJ makes the formatting much simpler and like you I use it for hosting.

I'd assumed you either filter entries or else didn't post much. Ha!
