bunn: (No whining)

We did have some snow today, though it was very much just slush.  I've been slowly coming down with the cold that Pp already had and today I gave into it and just went to sleep on the sofa with small Gothmog curled up on my feet.   Fankil came to inspect me: I didn't move but merely observed, and apparently that passed the inspection.

Am annoyed with myself : I took the car in to the garage because the dashboard dials had stopped working. It was booked in and I told them what the problem was when I phoned to book it in, but when it came to actually handing the keys over, the guy who does the work was busy with something and the garage's Dad was there and said 'does he know what it's in for' and I, overcome with cold and without a voice nodded and pushed the keys gormlessly at him.

Anyway, I tried phoning a couple of times later to double check they actually knew what it was in for and make sure they had my number, but only got voicemail.  So tomorrow I shall have to try to extract car from garage, and I hope they will actually have done something about the problem, since a speedometer and a petrol gauge are pretty essential though the car itself is running nicely.

Here are some photos of New Cat Nenya.

We picked Nenya up from the rescue on Saturday, and immediately noticed she was thin and her fur in poor condition : she had six kittens, and feeding them had really taken it out of such a young cat. She'd been off at the vet for a few days away from the kittens to be spayed and have a rest from them.  You can't really see how lean she was in these photos because of how she's lying, but she did look thin.

By Saturday evening, she had gone and nipped open her spay stitches, so emergency vet appointment on Sunday to get them put back in. This time they are dissolving ones on the inside, but she's still wearing a cone for now, and fortunately hasn't managed to remove it. Obviously that didn't improve her temper, and also she had developed mastitis, which can't help either.  So she's on antibiotics for that.  Despite all this, she's been super-friendly with us, and desperately keen for human attention, and very polite with Rosie, too.  She and Rosie were together in front of the fire this evening.  Poor Rosie!  She's been ever so tolerant with all these new cats arriving.

Fortunately, Nenya seems determined to put the weight back on, is eating enthusiastically, taking her antibiotic pills wrapped in liver paste like a star, and her fur is already looking a lot better.  Oh, and she LOVES catnip.

But she has been a little assertive with Gothmog and Fankil.  It's a good thing Gothmog is a very very chill and confident kitten.

Can I join you in the Cat Tree, pls?

... maybe not!

But on the whole, things do seem to be settling.  Gothmog got the cat tree later today, and they are eating side by side nicely too.

uuuurgh.  Snf.

I'm waiting to see whether they decide they need a light grey one to reprise the 'running out of toner' photo ;-)

I don't even know if they will ever be prepared to sit side by side yet! Also, I think three might be enough :-D

It's strange, because all our previous six cats were shades of tortoiseshell or tabby, and now we have all these monochromes!
