Fort for sale

It's such a cool place! I wish someone would buy it and do something remarkable with it.  Not sure what that would be, but I guess that is why it is so vast and so (relatively) cheap.

Does the yellow car in the garage come with?

I think that yellow car has been there for some time and is becoming one with the junk, so probably!

It would be a vast place for writing retreats but so inspiring. Surely there are ghosts.

That's ever so much more fun than a disused missile silo, though those are pretty fun too. This would make a spectacular conbined hotel, shopping-centre, apartments, and museum...

Or a palace for a historically-minded Chinese zillionaire.

It would have to be a zillionaire who was OK with a long rather convoluted drive to the nearest city or airport. Which is possibly the reason that it hasn't been converted into the hotel/shoppingcentre/flats thing either.

We had a similar-era place in Plymouth that was very successfully converted, but there are a lot more people in Plymouth than in Pembroke Dock, and I think there is a certain population needed to get things rolling, possibly.

Oh wow! I want it! Shame it would take a lot of money to get it in working order, but I could see distinct possibilities as a LARP site. It would be big enough to have zones like The Crystal Maze so you could run multiple genres in the same place :D Where's a lottery win when you need one!

I imagine it would be a money pit, and maybe a bit distant and remote for a LARP place? But on the other hand, SUCH potential!

I'm sure it would be a complete money pit, you'd definitely need many multiples of the purchase price to make it half decent. Particularly with the Grade II listing added into the mix. Plus I can't even begin to imagine what the insurance for it would look like. Probably more than my annual wage :(

I do hope someone does something good with it though, it would be a shame if it just continued to crumble. I'd imagine there might be some limitations on what you could do as well, due to the fact part of it is already refurbished and has leasehold status. The tenants there probably wouldn't take well to midnight battles or rituals in the courtyard :D

Oh, wow, really? Which fort is that - the Gelliswick / Milford one ? I've walked past that and I know there are vague plans to make it accessible, but I hadn't realised it had got to the point of actually being usable for LARP.

Dale Fort at Milford Haven apparently - it's owned by the Field Studies Council.

That'd be an awesome hotel... (Which is what it'll end up being, probably) but can you imagine that as some sort of arts space or something?!

It would be amazing as an art space / college / exhibition space! But I'm not sure if the economic situation will even allow a hotel: it needs a lot of fixing up.
