Waves, hound, larks and guns

Theo and I went for a beach wander in the March sun. Waves crashing on the sand, and an almost empty shore.






We walked back along the road through the dunes. The grass was still dry and golden, just the beginnings of green shoots at the base of the tufts, but there were larks singing. I could hear the rat-tat-tat of machine-guns from the military firing range at the same time as the larksong, making it hard to forget about Current International Events (USA & Ukraine edition).




One of Theo's absurdly large ears is painful and a bit gunky again. I am tentatively putting this down to my having given him too many Asda Southern Fried Chicken Chunks as treats on his training course. Back to beef and insects only and ears wiped out daily with leucillin.

Beautiful photos (and handsome boy). What insect treats do you feed? I love that idea!

I'm actually feeding him mostly insect-based food now! Or at least, the food is made from black soldier fly, yellow pea and apple: it just looks like pellets, and he does really like them both in his bowl and as training treats. I like the environmental/welfare benefits of insect protein too.

The brand is Wilsons: I don't know if they sell internationally but surely there must be a Canadian equivalent.

There was a big craze in the early 00s in North America for insect protein, but I haven't really seen it since, even in pet foods. I'll have to keep an eye out.

Oooh! That is a voluptuous curve of beach there! It's such a different, marvellous, feeling being the only ones on a beach. And those pebbles are yummy too.

Theo is such a poser! Gorgeous boy! I hope his ear ceases to bother both him and you soon!

Gosh, those are gorgeous beach and dune pictures. Theo is also quite stunning in his own right.
