I have just been wandering round the garden with Mollydog, both of us stuffing ourselves on strawberries (I insist on having the first pick: she gets to eat the ones that are ripe but have been pecked!). It's all a bit overgrown but there are so many plants there were lots for both of us.

I had some raspberries too, though there aren't many ripe yet and those are out of Mollydog's reach. I knew there had to be some advantage to being human... Az thinks we are both very odd. He's not a fruit dog.

While we were up there, Mollydog dug a very small hole, for no apparent reason. Rather hot weather for digging, specially for a greyhound, but she seemed to enjoy it.

I'm having to be terribly careful about when I walk Mollydog at the moment, as she is so prone to overheating and dehydration: much more so than Az. I think Az's whippet/collie elements make him a bit tougher in the heat.

Last night, I pruned the grape vine and cut back some of the millions of ferns. Brian the Wildlife was here on Tues: he was explaining recording using the DAFOR scale (Dominant, Abundant, Frequent, Occasional, Rare) and couldn't decide if ferns were Abundant or Dominant in my garden. I took this as a hint. Though better ferns than nettles!

Edit: I have just discovered I am a googlewhack for both 'Strorbris' and 'Rasbris'. I thought I was quoting from some children's story, which may have involved a wombat. Or not. Anyway, that was some very very fast spidering to be in the database so very quickly.

My mother has a rescue whippet/collie cross. She (the dog) is probably the most inteligent dog that I've met (and Mum is quite smart too!). If she wants something you can actually see her forming ways to communicate it to you.

So far, we haven't had any fruit-hounds, but we do have several fruit-cats.

Jasper does his level best to sneak bits of banana (or any baked goods containing same). He also likes Cheerios, so Alan has taken to breakfasting on the back porch of late. Jasper is usually a well behaved sort, and will politely ask for a taste, but I wound up wearing most of my breakfast recently due to a sneaky paw. At least Jasper was happy to help clean up. Bad puss... He's also been know to hop up on the counter to steal grapes from the bowl.

Percy is particularly fond of blueberries, which we found out upon opening a jar of home-made spiced blueberry compote when he was a mere kitten. He's fond of them fresh as well, but he'll settle for blueberry jam in a pinch. And of course, Tony does everything big brother Percy does.

So far, we've been able to keep the 'strorbris' to ourselves, as well as the blackberries. Alas, no 'rarsbris' at hand...

Good heavens. I don't think any of our cats would touch fruit. Though Perl is a big fan of tomato ketchup, and now I think of it, I have caught Kjetil eating the rabbit food before now.

God help me, we now apparently have a fruit-hound. Alan dropped a strawberry last night and -thwwp- ... it was gone. Casey has not generally been known for effective hoovering, but he's evidently learned. Either that or he makes an exception for particularly toothsome morsels.

LOL, are you sure he hasn't been reading your friends list and getting ideas?!

Twilight Barking? No, there's that big pond in the way.

I can't say what the menagerie gets up to when I'm not in the house, but I'm reasonably sure Casey's big paws are too clumsy for the keyboard. On the other hand, I often have to dislodge Percy from my desk chair, so perhaps he's taken to reading aloud...
