Date: 2007-10-19 11:17 pm (UTC)If you look at the shadow as well as the dancer, then I think the test has a real solution, which is that she's going anticlockwise and not clockwise. When she is going anticlockwise, her ourstretched leg is behind her at the point you can see its shadow, which seems right to me as the light source is behind her.
But I could be wrong. Anyway my brain has now gone funny. Time for bed!

Date: 2007-10-20 12:51 pm (UTC)I can sometimes get her to switch after half a revolution, so she oscillates back and forth with her leg in front of her. I can't do it consistently, though.
