I used to have a lot of these, but I haven't had one for a while.  But last night's was brilliant!  I shall write it down in the hope of remembering at least some of the visuals for art purposes.

For some reason, I was sharing a house with a couple who had recently moved in.  The house was not my actual house, or any house that I recall ever seeing, but I can see it clearly. It was a grey-painted house with large sash windows, at the bottom of a gravel-surfaced lane surrounded by tall trees beside a river.  The couple seemed pleasant enough.

Last night I dreamed that I was on a beach in the evening. It had been a bright clear evening; now the tide was coming in and the light was fading. I headed back past the rocks towards the car, hurrying a little, as I had parked at the high tide mark. Looking back, I saw something leap in the waves.  I thought it was a dolphin, so I turned on my camera, although the light was poor enough that my photo would probably come out blurred, it was worth a try.

I have painted a picture of myself in a dream.  Sometimes my pretentiousness astounds even me.

Randomness

If anyone out there happens to be thinking of making liver cake dog treats, runs out of porridge oats and thinks, hey, the end of this bag of coconut flour has been kicking around for ages, let's use that : DON'T.  It will gum up your liquidiser.   TAKE WARNING.   It remains to be seen if the dogs will eat the coconutty treats.

I am feeling slightly under the weather in that way that produces very clear lucid multisensory nightmares.  Night before last it was a sort of horror movie futuristic prison ship,  last night it was Apocalypse, folllowed by the considerable embarrassment and nervousness that ensues when it turns out that the apocalypse is rather more localised than one had realised, and now there's a headless corpse in the back of the car and what on earth to do with it???

Still don't know who to vote for.  It's probably between Conservative and Lib Dem in my consistuency.  Labour don't have a hope and I don't want to vote for them and their deeply dubious Scottish National Party alliance anyway, I don't think the Greens are anywhere near being a serious party with workable principles.

Probably going Lib Dem, on the grounds that we could do with more people who are prepared to make practical compromises based on the realities in front of them and work with people they don't like rather than throw tantrums when they inevitably don't get all they want.   Only I'm not sure about some of their policies.  Bah. Maybe I should go Mebyon Kernow, and vote to enrich the entertaining diversity of Westminster.

In last night's dream, the wind blew over the fence of our tiger enclosure and the tigers got out. We lived in an extremely busy city centre, full of bustling people and shops, so this was very bad.  I rushed out to see what was happening, and heard screaming and saw someone being carried away trailing blood from horrible leg wounds.

The main feature of last night's dream was set in Post-Apocalyptic Bristol.  This is a location my dreams quite often seem to use: perhaps it is cheap, or they have got some sort of package deal going on.

The supporting feature of last night's dream was an excellent dinner in a pleasant restaurant in a small tourist town, notable for being surrounded by small hills and beautiful blue lakes.    Read more... )

Other random thoughts :
- why is it that buying so called 'eco-friendly' clothes washing liquid inevitably gives you a bottle of soap that is peculiarly difficult to pour from or hold?  It's not particularly eco-friendly to spill half of it on the floor.

- Why do tourist resorts on tiny sandrafts entirely surrounded by miles of warm, inviting turquoise sea, and one imagines, relatively short on fresh water -  build swimming pools?  Are they for people with a morbid fear of turtles?   (I'd guess it was sharks, only given that said resorts all offer diving, this seems unlikely. )

- If it has chocolate swirls on it, it is NOT a desert.  It is a dessert. Likewise, if someone gives you a dessert that is covered in sand, I think you can justifiably send it back and complain....  If you can't remember the difference, then for the love of Smarties, what is wrong with the word 'Pudding'???

My brain insists that last night I had a dream set in Oxford.  But I'm pretty sure it is wrong.   I spent 5 years, on and off, living in Oxford, which is a flattish town built on a muddy flood plain out of brick and sandstone.

The Oxford that I visit from time to time when asleep, is built of green granite, Read more... )

I had a great dream last night that was a whodunnit.  It was very exciting and pacy with lots of red herrings and a side-order of angst. I played the amateur detective, and was greatly enjoying it.

I got to what felt like probably the last but one chapter, when it was all about to make sense, so the villain tried to bump me off but was fortunately scared off at the crucial moment, as so often occurs.   So I was rather achy from being thumped, but was seizing the chance to sit down while having a chat to collect clues from one of the other characters -  and was about to recover and discover what the whole thing was all about .

And then I woke up!  So I will never know which of the sympathetic-characters-who-nonetheless-did-something-quite-suspicious was the villain - or was it the unsympathetic-nasty-but- seemingly-innocent-one?  Aaaaaargh!

To add insult to injury, I still feel all achey.  I am assuming that I've got some sort of  bug rather than that the villain actually did beat me up, as there appear to be no bruises...
