I had thought that the frost might be gone by the time I had finished wrapping the dogs up in layers of coats, but no, down in the valley, the frost was still lying on the old Gunnislake Clitters mine.

No Camera

I forgot to take my camera when I took the dogs out this afternoon.

Deep purple cloud overhead, the low sun casting golden veils over the mists in the valley and making the western hills shine. In the east a great shining rainbow, with Dartmoor looming deep blue behind it. The moss glowing green edged with gold, and the yellow grass stems and the granite boulders shining. It started to rain, and the low sun caught the raindrops and made them glitter, and the black bare trees caught the raindrops glistening. Rosie Roo poised delicately on a hillock against the setting sun, limned in gold light and her huge ears glowing a soft pink with the sun shining through them.

Working stupidly hard at the moment, went to bed way too late, got up way too early, really should go to bed now, eyeballs feel like pickled onions - but at least I got to see the golden rain and the rainbow in the purple sky.

Slightly zonked this morning due to ginormous thunderstorm with extra lightning last night.

Az got stressed and had an accident, although thankfully he wobbled downstairs to do it on the hard floor. Brythen became very woe, shook like a leaf and hid in the bedroom.  I thought Rosie Roo was unbothered overnight - but then she brought up her breakfast.
Cats shouted loudly with joy when I came to bring them breakfast, and as usual, seem utterly untroubled.

Here is a selfportrait of me walking the dogs yesterday in extremely wild wind:

And while I was taking a copy of that, I took a photo of these, drawn during a roleplaying campaign last year.  Our party was quite polite, and found the range of greeting cards available from normal shops inadequate.

Blue skies and hard frosts. In the valleys, yellow leaves still clinging to the trees: on the hilltops bare trees making sharp shapes against the sky.

I did some gardening today!  Go me!  Admittedly it was just chopping overgrown bushes, but that still counts!  I am hoping to be able to do some hedge-laying soon - no point tackling it until the leaves are off the trees.

It's weather to have the fire on.  Some members of the household consider the best way to enjoy the fire is to make a huge pile of toys, so that all the toys can enjoy the warmth too.
Cut for photos of dogs. I am nothing if not predictable. )
