I just posted a photo simultaneously on three forums and raced the responses.

The results of this experiment
1) Sighthoundsonline.org.uk - first by a mile, I got three comments in 15 minutes,
2) Dogpages (temporary secret forum address while the admin has a strop) - honorable second place even though I did post my pic into a thread of other pics
3) Animal-rescuers.com - still no comments after 20 mins! Outrage.

The test image:

The content may have affected the result of the experiment. SOL people always like to comment on pics of greyhounds & cats.

Todays pointless experiment is now concluded.

Responses? Why are you timing responses?

(8 minutes by my PC's clock, BTW)

There is no good reason. The goblins told me to do it.

Actually that isn't quite true. Forums that are busier are more successful and attract new posters more effectively. Forums that attract new posters and keep older posters coming back are more useful tools for promotion and fundraising. One measure of busy-ness is speed of responses. (I typed business then, which I think is actually the right spelling, but reads wrongly somehow.)

I am always interested in response speeds on different forums for this reason, though of course really you need to monitor it across a number of different topics to get a proper picture.

(This is what I would have said if I'd had to justify it anyway...)
