Business Link annoyed me when I was in business. First they told me there was no money for grants left. Then when I next went to see them they told me I should have applied anyway as they had more money coming in, but now there wasn't any. Then I was to old/ in the wrong type of business/ the wind wasn't blowing the right way to get grants. Plus most if not all of the 'advice' they gave me sucked. I realise that different branches might be better than others, but based on my previous experience I would feel the same as you if they tried to send me a business pack.

I've had one before and they are always glossily printed but utterly generic to the point of being completely useless. I don't think I've ever come across anyone who had a good word for Business Link.

When we were setting up I talked to them in Plymouth, and to a more local business support organisation in Tavistock. The Tavi people sent a gentleman who knew my industry and was actually quite helpful.

Business Link wanted me to pitch my services to them so they could see if they should recommend them to others. They never did so, and anyway I was rather hoping they would help advise me on MY business!

Obviously the local people who were actually useful have now been closed down, whereas BL for no apparent reason, continues to survive and thrive! Feckers.
