It seems to be a good year for rhubarb this year, and my plants are well established.

 1) rhubarb leather
2) crystallised rhubarb
3) rhubarb & ginger jam

Any other ideas?  We are already eating a fair number of crumbles...

Rhubarb fool? Rhubarb beer?

(I find rhubarb a very very hard word to type, BTW. It wants to come out as rhubard every time. Except now, when I was trying to type rhubard and it of course came out perfectly as rhubarb without any problem.)

Fool perhaps... I don't have the equipment for beer-making. Hoave you had rhubarb beer? Was it any good?

I have *never* typed rhubarb as rhubard. How can you do that, the b is miles from the d! 'typed' however I always write as tuyped and have to fix...

Never had rhubarb beer, but my standard answer to "I've got too much x, what shall I do with it?" is to say "beer."

The problem with rhubarb is that my fingers don't know how to type it, so I have to slow right down and do single fingered stabbity typing of the RHUB. Then when we get to the A, my fingers go "Woot! I know how it goes now!" and gleefully type "ard," this being a more commonly typed sequence than "arb."

I've just realised that apparently, I can't type 'Have' either. And the A and the O are even further apart than B& D, so goodness knows what my fingers were up to.

Google seems to think that rhubarb beer would be rather tart and would also require a ton of other ingredients to a small quantity of rhubarb, but rhubarb wine is feasible. Or it would be if I had the kit, anyway. Maybe one day...

I can supply the kit, if you want to borrow a demijon or two and the various accessories.

Thank you! I'm not sure yet if I feel enthused enough about the idea to lug a demijohn back on the ferry, can I confirm when we are fighting Brians?

Or you could bring some of your glut of rhubarb with you when coming to brawl with brians, and the assembled wisdom of our six mighty minds come up with creative meal solutions. We've already got our day in which we eat nothing but pancakes, so why not have a day in which every meal involves rhubarb? Saturday could be the Carneval of Crepes, and Sunday the Riot of Rhubarb.

No, I'm not entirely serious - since I really don't fancy dipping rhubarb into cheese fondue - but feel free to bring some rhubarb along if you like. :-)

I will try to remember to do so! Even if we only have one meal that involves a small rhubarb component, it will make the Mighty Rhubarb Mounds seem more useful.

They're relatively light when they're empty :-)

Brian-fighting is at Easter. The plan was to start on the Friday (though you're welcome to turn up any time from Thursday evening) and end on the Sunday evening, so Monday is free to recover and travel home.

Exact timings depend on what the visitors want to do, really :-)

Sorry, missing comma confusion - I do know when we are fighting Brians! I meant, can I come to some sort of conclusion about the borrowing a demijohn thing, and tell you about it then, if that's OK?

Oh, I see - it makes more sense your way :-)

Yes, of course you can. I tend to use barrels these days, so several demijohns are sitting around unused.

I do applaud your determination to ensure I'd got the right date.

Experience has proved spectacularly that checking everyone has the right date cannot be done too often.

YAY RHUBARB. When I was growing up we had a rhubarb patch and just ate peeled sticks of it dipped in a cup of sugar.

I purchased and planted some (in a container - I have no garden) earlier this year. I eagerly await its bitter-but-moreish crunch.

Also....I'm not stalking you :P

I've never tried that! Will have to give it a go, thanks.

It's not stalking when you have a dog. It's socialisation ;-p
