I had intended the surrounding Scones to be fully upright under the cross-pieces, but couldn't work out a way to balance them.

What a spectacular and delicious monument!

Now I feel like I have to do something similar with the peanut butter cookies in the oven. I could probably replicate the entire Colosseum, what with the ridiculous number of them I've ended up with.

In the Great British Bakeoff a few weeks ago, there was a gingerbread Colosseum, as well as gingerbread Buckingham Palace and Big Ben, so precedent has already been set. :-)
