I got briefly derailed from writing about the War of Wrath and instead wrote this brief story about Elrond and Maglor after the fall of Beleriand.

I'm inclined to think that perhaps being the only musician made a difference. He's the only one that we know has an art that he can easily pick up and carry around with him even when everything else is gone. I think that could mean the Oath ate him a bit less.

That seems entirely plausible. There was a part of him that remained separate from the Oath, perhaps.

I've always thought that Caranthir was so famously crabby because he knew what had happened to him and resented it furiously.
