I just caught this advert for James Wellbeloved dog food, and it gave me FLOODS of tears.

I don't feed this particular food to my dogs because it doesn't suit Brythen, but apparently their ad team know how to neatly press all of my buttons.

This brought tears to my eyes, too... but I'm really not sure about the message it's giving. To me, the message is, "this product is so expensive that you can only afford it if you give up all your dreams!" or "a single packet of this costs as much as a motorbike!"

Or have I missed something? I went back and rewatched it in case I'd missed the fact that he only wanted to motorbike in order to take his beloved dog to the countryside, which would be fair enough, and a nice message. But I think the implication is that he gave up on the motorbike dreams in order to carry a large bag of dog food by foot all the way into the countryside, and...

Okay. I'm over-analysing this, aren't I? I should stop. And I DID cry. :-D

See, I think the implication is that he's feeding the food all along, and that the saving-up is in order to to move out of Megacity to the location for the bike advert, which he has only been able to find out exists because there's this wonderful picture of it which is mostly-obscured by an annoying extraneous motorbike.

Possibly there should have been a shot of JWB being fed to dog in megacity to clarify this important issue. I mean, they must be eating *something*. But I think of JWB as a relatively affordable brand. Perhaps this is colouring my vision.
