Yet another car tyre puncture.  And of course it was on the one tyre that was replaced two months ago for the MOT.

The  recovery van bloke reckons it can be patched.  I hope he's right.

I can't figure out why I get so many punctures.  I must have had enough for several lifetimes by now.

We decided to go and explore the river Lynher, down where she widens before she joins the big river Tamar, just above Plymouth.

In other news, Helga Saab got ANOTHER puncture - split tyre.  Dratted potholes.  Foolishly, I did not have my mobile phone with me, but thankfully a helpful lady leaped to my assistance and ferried me and the hounds home, and then the equally-helpful local tyre shop came out, picked me up, took me (but not the hounds) back to Helga, swapped on the space saver, and then I drove back to their garage to get a new tyre.  Must. Carry. Phone. *bangs head*

So annoyed - I bumped a bank at exactly the wrong angle and have knackered my car's steering. I was stuck right in the middle of a very narrow walled lane when I did it, so I then had to pull the car forward with knackered steering to get it out of the way, and that has shredded both front tires (because of course the wheels were pointing at mad angles).   So no car till Tuesday when I can get a courtesy car, and an insurance claim for the steering, one panel, and of course the tyres which are practically new.  Am hoping that the car can be economically repaired, as I really can't afford to replace it at the moment and I'm sure the insurance people will give me the tiniest possible amount for it.

On the other hand, we had a very successful burning today and got rid of a mountain of bits of tree and bramble root.  It's magic the way that such a large amount of stuff is digested down to a tiny pile of ash. I was so pleased with it that I rushed about afterwards gathering more stuff to burn before the fire died down too far.   It's so dry at the moment, the fig tree already has noticeable figs.

I must take some  photos of the wood anemones and ramsons in the woody corner, they are spreading all over the place. The ramsons were from an online plantswap, and I think I bought the anemones as corms.  I didn't buy any more after that because they didn't seem to do very well, but perhaps they just needed a long time to settle in. Or a dry spring.

Yes, it's another tyre post. On Sunday, on my way home from Oldies Club camping (which was great fun by the way) I stopped at the White Horse of Uffington for a walk and to break the journey and realised I had a flat tyre!

It's the same one that was resealed in March, rear left. Fortunately, I had my marvelous cigarette lighter powered tyre pump, so I was able to pump it up and drive home. It seems to be staying up for the time being, but I am keeping a wary eye on it.

WHY DOES THE GOD OF TYRES HATE ME, WHY???

Also, I have just realised that I drove to Oxfordshire and back in a car without a current MOT. Oopsie. Booked in now.

Well that wasn't as bad as expected. Tavistock Tyres tested the wheel, couldn't find a leak, so resealed the tyre at a grand cost of £9.95. The invoice said 'puncture repair' which makes me think of those little rubbery patches you get for inflatable airbeds, but I have checked the tyre and I can't see any little green squares stuck on the outside ;-p so I assume they know what they are doing!

So far, the tyre is still inflated. Fingers crossed it stays that way.

Mollydog is pleased that her normal chauffeur service has resumed.

My car has *another* puncture! I swear I get more punctures than any 3 other people I know put together. From now on I'm tagging puncture related posts so I can track the buggers. I may even make a gloomy chart of some sort.

So: Easter Sunday, Rear Left, slow puncture, buggered if I know where it came from.

Woe is me

My car has yet another puncture. I managed to get to a garage and pump it up enough to get home on, but you can hear hissing from that tyre now, so it's not going to have air in it in the morning. I could really do without another excursion to the Tyre Man this week, I don't have half a day to spare!

Edit : I got a new tyre online from etyres and had their mobile fitter come out to put it on. They were amazingly efficient and quite cheap. Will be using them again!

Mollydog just got hit by a motorbike.

She is OK, but she has a small puncture wound on her bum and is a bit bruised. She was a bit freaked out, but is now fast asleep. (I am a quaking wreck). She was on the lead of course, but it is a narrowish road with no pavement, and so far as I can remember through the shock, she sort of jumped sideways when she heard it come zooming up behind us and it hit her on the bum.

The guy on the bike sort of paused a little way up the road, but I'm afraid I lost it and yelled at him 'what the fuck were you doing' and he rode off again.

We were only on that road at all because I'd just managed to run over a rock that took out both of my tyres on one side. I was only taking her out for a quick walk, so I had no phone, no RAC card with me. But we weren't very far from home so I decided to walk back. Bad mistake.

I am in debt to a lovely lady who saw the accident and took me in, gave Mollydog a treat while she fraternised with her lurcher (and quickly forgot the whole thing, I really hope!) and me a cup of hot tea, then ran me home in her car. It was the best luck that Mary had a lurcher, because that was really interesting for her and they had a good time sniffing round each other.

When Molly tried to have a poo it hurt her and she screamed :-( so I think she must have quite a bruise.

I thought I was fine till we got home and I'd rung the RAC, then I burst into tears and couldn't stop for ages, but I am OK now. Though the RAC aren't helping - apparently the local garage that was supposed to be picking up the car got 2 calls to the same area at the same time, and managed to lose mine!

They now say they will come and get the car from where it is tomorrow and take it to a tyre place. I am just glad I did get home - if I'd had my phone with me I'd have called from the car and waited - and I'd be seriously stressed by now!

One thing that makes it worse is that both the RAC and the local garage, on hearing the car was a Subaru Impreza, automatically assumed that I was speeding. And I really, really wasn't: it's a narrow winding road, I had the dog in the boot, I was in no hurry : I was doing about 35 and it's a 40 limit. Polo is away as well, just to make things worse, and (to complete the jeremiad) I have just had to buy a new boiler, as ours is failing, so I could really do without having to pay for 2 new tyres as well.

Bummer.

I really hope it is true about bad luck in threes, cos I've had mine now.
