I continue!

Oh, and also, I can now reveal to anyone who cares and didn't spot it (I've been told it was very obvious) that I wrote:
Coming to the Valley  (18382 words, G)  : An account of what Elrond did in the War of the Elves and Sauron, and how Rivendell was founded.

Prompt: 8 : Star
Maedhros, Maglor, Elros & Elrond see the Evening Star rise.  I started drawing this in rough pencil in my sketchbook, intending to do it on better paper, then I was too lazy so I just inked it where it was.
Prompt: 9 : Precious.  It seemed a bit obvious to do Sauron or the Ring, so this is an elderly Gimli and Celebrimbor having a pleasant conversation on Tol Eressea, to illustrate the idea ‘If more of us valued food and cheer and song above hoarded gold, it would be a merrier world.’ (I was going to put Legolas in the background talking to a tree but I ran out of time.)

I got a little behind because I was rushing to get my story for Innumerable Stars finished.  But I did!  Hurray!

Prompt 6: Drooling.
Draugluin, and an encounter that seems likely to end badly for the Elf & his friend.

Prompt 7: Exhausted.
I drew this very quickly last night.  Maglor asleep without taking his armour off.

Inktober Day 4: prompt: Chicken
And in that very moment, away behind in some courtyard of the City, a cock crowed. Shrill and clear he crowed, recking nothing of wizardry or war, welcoming only the morning that in the sky far above the shadows of death was coming with the dawn. And as if in answer there came from far away another note. Horns, horns, horns. In dark Mindolluin’s sides they dimly echoed. Great horns of the North wildly blowing. Rohan had come at last.

I still think this was a really good idea, even if I did execute it far too quickly so the horses are all kind of in the wrong places and there isn't enough emphasis on the horns.   I may count this one as a preliminary sketch & re-draw it sometime.

Inktober Day 4: prompt: Spell
The dwarves of yore made mighty spells,
While hammers fell like ringing bells
In places deep, where dark things sleep,
In hollow halls beneath the fells.

I wish I'd put some Dark Things sleeping under that weird giant anvil now, but I only thought of it later.  Though it would be a very noisy place to sleep...

Inktober Day 3: prompt: Roasted

“Mutton yesterday, mutton today and blimey if it don’t look like mutton again tomorrer” said one of the trolls
- The Hobbit

Another super-quick ink drawing /painting.  Trying for some non-movie trolls.   I feel like my ability to draw has deserted me specially for October, but I shall not give up.

I'm going to try to keep up with Inktober, and do a drawing in ink for the official prompt every day!

Day 1: 'Poisonous' :

Ungoliant poisoning the Trees of Light for the prompt  ‘Poisonous’.

Day 2: Tranquility

But still the sunken stars appear

In dark and windless Mirrormere;
There lies his crown in water deep,
Till Durin wakes again from sleep.

Couldn’t make my first idea for this work in the time, so here’s a super-quick and wobbly inkpainting.
